Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community was founded upon the spirit of giving with a 1954 bequest from Anna Bartels, the widow of a Lutheran pastor. For more than half a century, Bartels has been meeting the long-term care needs of senior adults in a comfortable home-like setting. Though primarily funded by resident fees, Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community depends on additional funding to enhance the quality of life for our residents and help us continue to meet our mission of enriching lives through quality services and Christian care.
Anna’s dream is flourishing, and through the visions of exceptional leadership, Bartels has stretched to meet the changing needs and demands of senior adults and their families. Today, Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community has evolved from a “home for the aged” to a multilevel retirement community, offering a full range of health care and retirement living services on one campus. Our chaplaincy program is at the core of the Bartels’ mission. Caring for the physical needs of the residents is in tandem with caring for their spiritual and emotional needs.
The future will bring more exciting changes. We are helping to change attitudes towards retirement communities by creating a community within a community. By offering a continuum of care – from a totally independent lifestyle to end-of-life care, we meet the needs of our community members. We invite you to join us by creating a legacy through which you will make a difference in the lives of our residents.
